How to Get Care

Accessing behavioral health services

Access behavioral health services by calling Magellan Member Services any time at 800-564-5465. If you are deaf or hard-of-hearing, call our TTY number at 800-424-9831.

Or you may go directly to the network provider, including a PNO. A recipient may contact any provider in our network to seek services or call any PNO. The provider will talk to Magellan to coordinate your care and services.

Find information about behavioral health services online. Our Web site resources can help you identify and learn about Magellan's network providers. The information supplied includes contact information for providers and brief descriptions of their services and the populations they serve.

How can I get services in an emergency?

For life-threatening situations, always call 911. For non-life threatening behavioral health situations, call:

  • Your provider or therapist/clinical liaison;
  • The Behavioral Health Crisis Line at 800-631-1314, or our crisis line phone line for the hearing-impaired at 800-327-9254. They will review your situation and help you get the best possible solution for your specific behavioral health need, or
  • Magellan may refer you to one of these centers in Maricopa County:

Urgent Care Central Psychiatric Care Center

Phoenix, AZ 85004

META Psychiatric Recovery Center (West)
11361 North 99th Avenue, Suite 402
Peoria, AZ 85345

Transportation for a behavioral health emergency may be available by contacting the Behavioral Health Crisis Line at 800-631-1314, or our crisis line phone line for the hearing-impaired at 800-327-9254.

You may need behavioral health services while you are away from home and out of Magellan's service area. This is called out-of-area care. Out-of-area care only includes emergency behavioral health services unless Magellan approves additional services. If you want to get non-emergency behavioral health services out of Magellan's service area, please call Magellan Member Services at 800-564-5465.

If you need out-of-area care:

  • Go to a hospital or crisis center and ask for help;
  • Ask the hospital or crisis center to call Magellan Member Services at 800-564-5465;
  • The hospital or crisis center will contact Magellan for approval to continue behavioral health services.
*Emergency services do not require pre-approval.
