Role of the Helper training: Magellan Health Services of Arizona has developed a training program to help family and friends of those challenged with mental illness better understand the needs of their loved ones, so they may help them on their recovery journey. Topics include: Managing roles, mental illness and medication, wellness planning, and goal setting and resources. Community Resources Webinar: Please join the Arizona Foundation for Behavioral Health and Magellan Health Services of Arizona for an interactive webinar series on community resources that may be helpful to you or your loved one. This series will include information about state and federal benefits programs, as well as tutorials on websites that will connect you to even more services and resources. *If you do not have access to a computer, please join us November 16-18, in person, at Magellan's Saguaro Conference Room, where we will run the webinar on a large screen; you will be able to participate via teleconference. Community Resource Fairs: In May and June, Magellan will host five community resource fairs in Maricopa County for impacted recipients and their families. Magellan's goal is to help connect impacted recipients to resources that are important to their well-being. The fairs will be in areas of the County where the highest concentration of impacted individuals live-the goal is to connect people to resources close to where they live and work. Non-title 19 Employment Workshop: North Phoenix Visions of Hope will host a Non-title 19 Employment Workshop Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The goal of the workshop is to help impacted recipients explore various options and ways to obtain employment. The workshop will feature information on applying for Freedom to Work and Ticket to Work, finding part-time employment, and resume and interview preparation. Magellan of Arizona's Ombudsman Office forum: Magellan of Arizona's Ombudsman Office is inviting behavioral health service recipients, family members, friends, advocates, providers and other concerned community members to come together and plan how to provide personal and compassionate assistance to non-Titled XIX (19) service recipients impacted by the upcoming behavioral health budget cuts and to help them stay connected and focused on their recovery. The meeting will take place Monday, May 17, from 3 to 5 p.m., in the Cottonwood Conference Room, Magellan of Arizona's Administrative Office located at 4129 E. Van Buren, Phoenix. Please RSVP to Mary Robson, ombudsman for Magellan of Arizona at MCRobson@MagellanHealth.com or leave a message at (602) 797-8368. Peer-run agency forums: Magellan will host a series of forums held at three peer-run organizations across the Valley to discuss how the budget cuts will impact Maricopa County's behavioral health system. Recipients, famility members and other community stakeholders are welcome to attend to hear a short presentation and then ask questions or share concerns. Please see below for dates and times:

Clinical Advisory Council Meetings: Throughout the month of April leadership from Magellan of Arizona, the Division of Behavioral Health Services, and the provider network organizations (Southwest Network, CHOICES, People of Color Network and Partner in Recovery) will visit the Clinical Advisory Council Meetings to discuss how the budget cuts impact Arizona's behavioral health system. Magellan of Arizona's Shared Governance Board to Address Arizona's Behavioral Health Budget Cuts:   Please join Magellan Health Services of Arizona's Shared Governance Board at their monthly community meeting set for Wednesday, April 21, 2010,  to learn about Magellan's plans surrounding Arizona's behavioral health system. The Governance Board will address how the State's recent budget cuts, effective July 1, 2010, will impact non-Title XIX (19) services for Adults and Children and Magellan's plans to help in this transition process. Service recipients, family members and community stakeholders are encouraged to attend the board meeting set for this Wednesday, April 21, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Cottonwood Conference Room located on the first floor of Magellan of Arizona's Administrative Office (4129 E.
