If you need out-of-area care

You may need behavioral health services while you are away from home and out of Magellan's service area. This is called out-of-area care. Out-of-area care only includes emergency behavioral health services unless Magellan approves additional services. If you are currently out of Magellan's service area and require care:

  2. Ask the hospital or crisis center to call Magellan Member Services at (800) 564-5465
  3. The hospital or crisis center will contact Magellan for approval to continue behavioral health services.

Emergency services do not require pre-approval.
